Geekery. . .

mmm wow, havnt felt this n00bish about an O/S since hmmm 6th grade. LOL. Humbling experience. But at least on teh intarweb there are good resources for assistance. It's not like the old day, where I was thumbing though a DOS Manual as thick as my leg looking for that elusive chunk of code.

Unfortunately, with a lack of net access for the laptop at work, I'm limited in what I can do.

I felt the same way when I first installed Gentoo. It gets easier, until you try to do something new and unfamiliar :p

I just downloaded ubuntu, and I'm going to install it on one of my partitioned drives. I'm so tired of using windows. and too broke for a mac. plus, I just want to beable to use my 64 processor to its full potential.

I have no clue how to use linux, so this should be interesting

it's pretty seamless, and it run's nicely, just make sure you have a chunk of space for it to install into (unpartitioned) and it should do fine.

I have 80 gigs off of my 300 gig HD, so that should be fine

right, delete the partition before you start the installation, so that ubuntu has a place to set itself up (larges free space option in the install)

eh, that sounds like too much work. the other (larger) partition has all of my music and shit on it... don't really wanna move that around. I'll probably use some older IDE harddrive... I think I have an 80 gig one.

I mean, honestly, how much space does it need to run an OS?
